20 Jan Choosing Your Wedding Colors

I always enjoy spending time with other wedding vendors, but when I get to hang out with Ricky Whitley of RickyWhitley Bridaleventsflorist, I know I’m going to have a great time! Ricky is one of the most genuine, down-to-earth, kind, caring and compassionate people I know. Every time I ask him to meet with a client, they come away from the meeting feeling relaxed, happy and completely satisfied with everything Ricky suggested. It’s fun to witness!

I recently had lunch with Ricky and a topic came up in our discussion that I thought was worth sharing. The biggest component that ripples throughout the many facets of planning a wedding is the color scheme. It determines the color of your bridesmaids’ dresses, your floral and linen choices, your invitations, favors and the list just goes on and on. Therefore, your color scheme deserves careful consideration. Many brides have trouble with the concept of keeping it simple or following the “rule of three”.

Going with a two-color scheme is perfectly fine, but it could leave your event looking a little bit on the lack-luster side. By adding a third color to the mix as an accent (or “pop”) color, you will find working your colors throughout all the details can be down-right fun and exciting. Caution though… stop with just three (thus the rule). Any more than that and your event can look too busy and non-cohesive.

Establishing your three colors… that’s a topic I’ll let you read about from the color wheel experts. Here’s a handy tool from Colorschemer that allows you to play around with colors. They even have a fun app… imagine that!

Back to Ricky… I provided a link above to his website, but I strongly suggest you follow him on his Facebook page. He is always sharing photos of his latest works. Here’s just a few examples… beautiful!
