20 Jun Meet Zip A Dee Do Dah Travel Agent Kalai Livingston

Recently I met up for coffee with Kalai Livingston of Zip A Dee Do Dah Travel. First off, isn’t her name awesome? It’s pronounced Cal – eh. Kalai has a love for all things Disney that is second to none. She absolutely loves the Magic Kingdom and has found her true passion arranging trips for couples and families with Zip A Dee Do Dah Travel. While Disney vacations are a big focus for them, they handle lots of other awesome locations. I’m looking forward to recommending my couples to Kalai and I think after reading her Q&A below you will want to work with her too. She is so personable and enthusiastic about her job. Thank you Kalai for hanging out with me!

Q: How did you and your husband meet?
We met in high school. I had the biggest crush on him but he was two years older than me and always had a girlfriend. Fast forward two years after he graduated, I was a senior, and he saw me at our small town’s 4-way stop after my long day at band camp. He sent me a message that night and the rest is history!
Q: What do you feel most proud of?
Where I am right now in my life because God has opened up so many doors and opportunities for me and my family that has been so life changing, and I am so thankful!
Q: What excites you about being a travel agent?
Knowing that I get to help families/couples make their dream vacations come true and that they will make amazing memories that will stay with them for life!
Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
That would be Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa in Hawaii. You cannot beat Disney’s amazing service, and Aulani really encompasses the beautiful Hawaiian culture. It is a quiet resort but still close enough to see other parts of the island as well, and I love that it can be as much or as little Disney as you would like!
Q: How do you spend your free time?
Usually at Crossfit with my husband, playing with my dog, Pongo, and traveling to Disney with friends and family. We are also big foodies, so we are always trying new restaurants too.
Q: What would you name your boat if you had one?
This is a tough one…I think it would be a tight race between The Zip-A-Dee Lady or The Dole Whip Float. The Zip-A-Dee Lady is the boat featured at the end of Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom, and you can never go to the Magic Kingdom at Disney World without grabbing a Dole Whip float!
Q: What is the best and worst purchases you’ve ever made?
The best purchase I have ever made would have to be my dog, Pongo. He is a full-blooded Dalmatian and is definitely my baby!
One of my worst purchases would have to be my white linen bedspread because it doesn’t stay so white when your 70lb dog runs through the mud and then runs straight to your bed!
Q: What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?
I have really gotten into reading The Magnolia Story, which is the book about Chip & Joanna Gaines. They have such a sweet love story and I love learning all about how they have used their faith in God to guide them to where they are now. It is an amazing book, I highly recommend it! Plus, you learn some pretty awesome home advice!
Q: Who do you most admire in life?
I would have to say my mom is who I admire the most in life. She is my best friend and she is always here for my sister and me. We always have so much fun and I have to see or talk to her at least once a day! I hope I will be the mom to my kids one day that she has always been to me!
