08 Jan Erin + Rob | Wedding at The Stables at Russell Crossroads

On this very cold January morning (third day in a row, sigh), I can’t help but think back on a very chilly wedding we had last March. So I thought I’d share today. Erin and Rob’s wedding took place at The Stables at Russell Crossroads. The ceremony was inside the barn upstairs in the loft area and then the reception was to be downstairs with a good bit of the setup to be outdoors (as originally planned). Mother Nature had other plans for us that day.

When we arrived to setup for the day, temperatures had plummeted from the day before and the winds were fierce… I mean whipping! There was even some snow falling. Needless to say, when Kerri (my assistant) and I couldn’t keep a linen on the outside tables despite centerpieces already in place, the call had to be made to move the reception completely indoors. With the barn doors shut and all the bodies inside, we were actually pretty toasty. I will have to say though, after our breakdown that night, Kerri and I have never been so happy to get back in the car for our ride back to Birmingham. Lets just say the heat was never turned down from full blast… brrrr!

This wedding was all rustic and simple decor (think burlap & lace), but gotta love how Erin infused her groom’s love of Star Wars in a few places. “The Force” helped to keep us all warm that day! Thanks to all the fantastic personnel who made this day beautiful despite the temps…
