24 Oct Amber & James | The Club Wedding
I meet a lot of super neat people in this business but I’m not sure I’ve ever met a more easy going couple that Amber and James. Every planning session was always a pleasure to be around them. It was always obvious to me how much they both adore each other and I absolutely love that!
There were several things that really stood out to me about this wedding. I thought I liked Coca-Cola… no, James is a HUGE fan of the drink and totally makes me look like an occasional drinker! He wanted it around for the guys to toast with and as favors for guests at the reception. And there was one other very important reason for the bottled beverage that was unbeknownst to me until the end of the ceremony. So… I sent the minister, James and his best man down the aisle and up front. Next came each of the groomsmen individually. These guys are all tight and had a set way of well wishing the groom that they had established at weddings in the past. It usually includes some type of handshake and/or hug. The “unbeknownst” part for me was after James and Amber were introduced and recessed back up the aisle, I could hear this jingling noise as they got closer to me. I was a little taken aback to say the least. I knew I had not let him go down the aisle with a set of keys in his pocket… nope… it was all the Coca-Cola bottle caps that each of the groomsmen had handed him. 🙂
Another moment that really stood out to me was the reaction that Amber’s dad had when he saw his little girl for the first time in her wedding dress. I have always enjoyed witnessing that moment, but for this father/daughter moment, it was truly special!
The ceremony itself was another great few moments. The minister, Wes, also James’s brother in-law, provided us all with some wonderful words of worship and advice. And since he knows this couple very well, he interjected some great stories throughout the ceremony. I love love love when the officiant does that!
There were also several things and moments I really liked about the reception. I thought the extensive family photo ledge we set up was super neat! There weren’t just photos of their parents and grandparents, there were photos dating back several generations and many of them were wedding portraits. So cool! I also thought the toasting flutes with milk and then the dunking of the Oreos from the groom’s cake was super cute. I also loved the “his” (bottled coke, of course) and “hers” (chocolate chip cookies) favorites given to the guests on their way out were a fun touch as well.
