13 Mar Ashley + Andrew | Engagement

It’s wedding week for Ashley and Andrew and I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this couple! We have a gorgeous wedding day planned for them at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church with their reception celebration set for The Barn at Shady Lane. A fantastic line up of vendors is all set to showcase their work for their guests and it’s going to be an awesome day for sure with TONS O’ DETAILS! I’m already so excited about sharing their day soon on the blog. Until then, I hope you enjoy their engagement Q&A with me along with photos from Phillip Dupree Photography as well as some personal selfies that Ashley sent my way.

Q: How/where did you meet and what did you do on your first date: Give us all the details…

A: Andrew and I first met in high school. We both went to Vestavia and he was a year older than me. During high school we knew of each other, but never ran in the same circles or hung out… even though secretly I thought he was the cutest thing ever!! After high school we both went our separate ways but reconnected on Facebook 6 years later. What we consider our first date was at a local Chinese buffet here in town. It was so simple and I absolutely loved it and had the best time with him.

Q: Describe your dream date…

A: My dream date would probably be anything that we could do with our dogs, Moose and Mia. I’m a very simple girl, so I would love to spend the day hiking together, taking in the generous views, and then ending the day at one of our favorite restaurants.

Q: Do you have a favorite movie or song?

A: My favorite movie is Gone With the Wind. I joke and tell Andrew I knew he was the one when he finally agreed to watch the full movie with me… it’s 4 hours long!

Q: What guilty pleasure do you share?

A: Our guilty pleasure would probably be sushi. We love going to Taco Tech in Vestavia and getting sushi for dinner. There have been a few times when we have gone twice in one week!

Q: Tell us all about the proposal… anything not go as planned or was it completely perfect?

A: Andrew and I have very close birthdays. I was born on March 26th and he was born almost one year to the day before, on March 28th. Over the past 4 years of our relationship, March has turned into an exciting month for us. Last year my birthday fell on a Sunday and his on a Tuesday. After looking at the calendar, I decided to take that Monday, the 27th, off from work so we could spend the day together and do something fun. Little did I know, he had already been planning to propose.

The weekend before, Andrew suggested that we should take the dogs to the dog park on my off day since it would not be as crowded as it is on the weekend. Of course I agreed because taking them to the park is one of my favorite things to do. We decided to take them to a park near his house since it has a small creek that the dogs like to play in. Once we got to the park we started walking around and playing with the dogs. There is a small bridge that overlooks a creek towards the back of the park. Once we reached the top of the bridge, Andrew stopped and got down on one knee and proposed. It was absolutely perfect!

Q: What do the two of you like to do together when you aren’t working?

A: When we’re not working, we like to spend time out at my family’s farm hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. We take the dogs to the farm and we have a lot of fun with them there.

Q: How did you know Andrew was the one?

A: When I fell in love with Andrew, I knew he was the one because of his big heart and the kindness he has towards others. He puts others first in all aspects of his life and I find this inspiring. The understanding, encouragement, and love that he shows me through each new phase of life keeps me falling more in love with him every single day.
