This week I have the honor of sending these two down the aisle to say I Do and I couldn’t be more excited. Katie and Steven are two of the kindest people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. And if you keep scrolling, you’ll get to see their cutie pie pups. First they’ll say “I Do” at Saint Mark United Methodist Church and then we’ll celebrate the night away at the Barn at Shady Lane. How/where did you meet and what did you do on your first date? Give us all the details.
Katie: We met on August 5th of 2016. I had just completed my masters degree and was out celebrating with friends. Steven was out with his roommate for one last hoorah before his buddy moved away. We both happened to find ourselves in downtown Birmingham celebrating on the same evening. We simply walked past each other and just began talking. Our first date was the following night at The Cheesecake Factory. We were pretty much inseparable after that.
Describe your dream date.
Katie: Just being with one another and our sweet pups. We are always so happy when the world just stops for a minute and we can have time with one another.
Do you have a favorite movie or song?
Katie: We don’t share a favorite song or movie. But we love watching Netflix series together, especially when we find one we both like. 🙂
What guilty pleasure do you share?
Katie: Queso
Tell us all about the proposal… anything not go as planned or was it completely perfect?
Katie: The proposal was hands down the best proposal EVER! We went on a cruise with Steven’s sister and her boyfriend. Steven proposed before dinner on the first night of the cruise. I thought we were just taking pictures before dinner. Then we went up to the top deck. Steven turned my attention to the horizon while he got down on one knee. He then said, “I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” I couldn’t stop laughing and jumping up and down from pure excitement. I obviously said, “YES!”
What do the two of you like to do together when you aren’t working?
Katie: We like to travel to new places together, go on motorcycle rides on Steve’s bike, and spend time with our puppies Rufus and Otis.
What are you looking forward to the most about your wedding day?
Katie: This is a great question and one I haven’t really thought about until now. I am really excited about walking down the aisle and seeing Steven in that moment.
Anything else fun you want to share about your story?
Katie: We have had a crazy year with both of us getting new jobs, moving towns, and now a wedding. We are super excited for our big day that we have been waiting for all of 2018.
How did you know he/she was the one?
Katie: I felt a perfect peace about our relationship, it felt natural, and I had a feeling that I was on top of the world. When my face is against his face I know everything is right in the world and it’s simply one of those moments where I know everything will be okay.
Steven: Katie always has a glowing selfless nature about her. She cares for others and always shows a loving concern for me when we are together. That’s really one of the main qualities that makes me so in love with her.
