12 Oct Romantic Southern Mini-Moon Destinations
Don’t have the time or the budget to take a lavish honeymoon? Take a mini-moon instead! Sometimes your schedule doesn’t allow for a two-week or more getaway, or your budget is tight after the wedding of your dreams. You can still have a great time with your honey on a mini-moon to one of these not-too-far destinations.
Charleston
One of my favorite Southern cities, Charleston never disappoints. There is no shortage of Instagram-worthy hotels where you will be treated like king and queen. And Charleston is rightly famous for its food scene, where you can dine on everything from the freshest seafood to the hippest fusion food and everything in between. If you and your love are into art, this is definitely the place to be — check out the numerous galleries in the French Quarter.
Savannah
Savannah just oozes Southern charm. Stay in a bed and breakfast in the historic district on the riverfront to truly experience the Old World vibes of this great Southern city. The food is outstanding and so is the shopping. You and your beloved can even enjoy a ghost tour of the city!
Sea Island, Georgia
Off the southeastern coast of Georgia, Sea Island boasts the romance of moss-draped giant oaks, miles of private beaches, and a five-star resort that will take care of your every need. The food is spectacular and there’s tons of things to do, from lounging by one of the gorgeous pools to shopping to horseback riding.
Beach Getaway
Fortunately for us in Birmingham, we’re just a few hours from the sandy white beaches of the coast. There are lots of little beachside towns to choose as your mini-moon getaway, where you can be pampered at a resort or a charming bed and breakfast. Splurge for a room facing the ocean so you can be lulled to sleep by the waves.
No matter what destination suits your fancy, a mini-moon doesn’t have to mean you’ve settled for less. You can pack as much fun and romance into a three-day Southern getaway as possible, and save the honeymoon time off and dollars for a great anniversary trip!
