03 Oct Sally & Baby Harper’s Shower
So I’m finally getting around to posting about the baby shower I helped host for my youngest sister, Sally (aka… my punkin), in Florida back in May. With the amazing help from our other sister, Rebecca, and one of Sally’s good friends, Dawn, a gorgeous baby shower was born.
After quizzing Sally on what her wants and wishes were for the shower, the girls and I got together for a planning weekend in Atlanta where both Rebecca and Dawn live. I love road trips!
The biggest thing to decide on was where we would hold the event. At first we thought why not have it at Sally’s so everyone could see the baby’s room because… well… it’s adorbs! But we decided with all of the out of town guests that would be visiting that weekend and Sally’s fur babies (her two very sweet labs) that we really should consider an alternative location. So, our sweet mom, who lives up the road, about a 40 minute drive, offered up her home. Thank you momma! This was my favorite option anyway because when I think of Florida, if I’m not at the beach or poolside… I’m out!
In case you haven’t heard by now (not sure how you’ve missed it) the little one on the way (aka, my littlest punkin) is named Harper Addyson. Sally has done Harper’s room in the sweetest pink and white combo with touches of grey here and there. So naturally that became the color scheme for the shower. Sally is also quite fond of the chevron pattern… not sure if it will ever really go out of style… hope not! We absolutely fell in love with these invitations because of the pink and grey chevron pattern on the back but also the cute chalkboard look on the front. Additionally, Sally really wanted guests to bring their favorite book to start Harper’s library off right. Guests wrote some of the sweetest messages inside the covers of their books. After listening to them read aloud, Harper’s mommy is very special to sooo many people. <sniff, sniff>
Of course, a party is not a party without a signature drink. BUT, with a baby on the way… no alcohol allowed. Guests were greeted with a Blueberry and Thyme Lemonade and boy was it refreshing. This yummy mocktail was created and whipped up for us by Rebecca’s husband, Adam, who’s also a professional bartender. It was simply delicious!
Guests signed a thumbprint tree as well as filled out cute little “Wishes for Baby” cards. Once they had their drink in hand, they were invited out to join Sally on the lanai where lunch would be served. We dined out by the pool that had pink and white balloons weighted down for an extra little touch of whimsy.
The food was a very important topic to both our mommy-to-be as well as her planners. Sally wanted good hearty food served while we wanted to make sure she could eat and drink everything on the menu. We served burger sliders with all the fix ins, mom’s homemade chicken salad on fresh baked croissants, an amazing mac n’ cheese dish (Rebecca’s specialty) and a lovely salad on the side. For dessert we had a beautiful pink and white ruffle cake from a local bake shop that was delicious as well as some fun confetti cookies I found from a baker on Etsy. Speaking of Etsy, this shower is heavy on products and goods from that site. The chevron table runner, whimsical white flower chair decor, confetti cookies, invitations, and pink tulle gift table skirt were among just some of all the items we got from Etsy shop owners.
The gift table (Harper’s Treasures) was probably my favorite detail of the whole shower. The paper pom poms are so easy to make and add that special pop of color! I’m really hoping that Harper will want to use the pink tulle skirt for future tea parties too. Our dad made the fun “Treasures” sign that now has a place in Harper’s room just above her closet.
Another fun detail to point out is the other sweet mommy-to-be, Jenn, pictured in purple below. Jenn’s little girl, Parker, was due just a few weeks before Harper and the two moms were just adorable standing side by side at the shower. Something tells me Harper and Parker will be BFFs for sure!
Lastly, a party is not a party without a favor. Check out the cute little pink and grey chevron elephant cookies. Yes, another great find on Etsy and they tasted A-mazing!
Hope you enjoy all the photos below. Most of them were taken by Rebecca’s super talented husband, Adam. He’s a professional photographer in the Atlanta area but like most photogs… has camera(s) and will travel. You’ll find more info about Adam listed in the credits below.
